If your question is not answered here, please contact us.
Q) What is your jewelry made of?
A) We only use precious metals and the items pictured are made using Argentium Sterling Silver. Some items may be pictured combining silver with other precious metals to show examples of metal combinations available for special order.
Q) How do I correctly measure myself/my partner for your jewelry?
A) If you have a thin chain necklace or bracelet that is the length that you like, just measure it end to end, including the clasp, and order that length from the drop down menu.
If you do not have a thin chain in the length that you like, use a piece of string. Lay it around your neck or wrist until it hangs the way you like. Then measure the string end to end and order that length from the drop down menu.
For rings, the easiest thing to do is to go to your local jewelry store and have them measure you for a wide band.
If you still have questions, please contact us and we will be happy to help you.
Q) Do your padlocks "lock"? What if I do not want a padlock clasp?
A) The padlocks you see pictured do not "lock", they are spring loaded with very tight springs. When closed correctly, they are very sturdy. Recent changes by the manufacturer have increased the tension in the springs.
Padlock clasps come standard on items showing the padlock as the clasp, but if you prefer a more subtle clasp option, we have oval, trigger-less lobster clasps to use in place of the padlock. When you checkout, state your preference in the "Notes" section.
Q) How long before my order ships?
A) Items are made-to-order and the stock that we have on hand varies. Please allow 1 - 2 weeks for your order to be made and shipped.
All items are shipped via USPS Priority mail. The shipping cost includes packaging material, package tracking, insurance in the amount of the purchase price and signature confirmation (for orders over $200.00).
Special orders (precious metals other than silver, combinations of metals, extra long lengths, etc.) may take 2 - 3 weeks. Special orders require that you contact us initially, rather than utilizing the shopping cart, so you will receive a personalized time frame during our communications with you.
Custom designs may take several weeks and you will receive a personalized time frame once a custom design is finalized.
Q) Do you ship outside of the US?
A) Yes, in most cases. If you live in Canada or the UK, shipping will be added during checkout.
If you reside in another country other than Canada or the UK, please contact us with your shipping address so that we can accurately determine shipping costs.
Q) What other metals do you use? Can I order something in another metal?
A) We use only precious metals. If you would like to order something in another type of precious metal or a combination of metals, you will need to contact us for special order availability and pricing.
Special orders will require a 50% non-refundable deposit before work will begin. Once completed, we will contact you for the balance prior to shipping.Precious metals available:
Q) What is "Argentium Sterling Silver" and is it just as good as regular sterling silver?
A) Argentium Sterling Silver is a silver alloy that contains more silver (.930 vs. .925) less copper and more germanium than traditional sterling. You can read more about it here.
We think Argentium Sterling Silver is better than traditional sterling. Not only is it brighter, more tarnish resistant, purer and nickel-free, it is only produced using recycled silver.
Q) Why only precious metals? Can I have something made in aluminum or stainless?
A) When we started in 2007, finding precious metal chainmaille or any type of precious metal jewelry for the BDSM community was very difficult. We set out to offer an alternative of very high quality.
We discovered that in order to produce consistent quality in our jewelry, we would have to make our own rings. We start with wire, then hand coil, precision cut, tumble finish and inspect every ring before it is assembled. Each design has been painstakingly tested to find the exact sizes of rings that will produce beautifully dense but fluid chainmaille.
We cannot accommodate orders for other non-precious metals. Alternative metals, such as aluminum, stainless, etc., are generally much harder than precious metals. They behave differently when coiled and they require specialized tools to cut them as precisely as we cut our current rings. Each design would then have to be re-designed to find the correct sizes of rings to produce the quality and feel you have come to expect from us.
There are many, many sources of chainmaille and other types of jewelry in alternative metals for the BDSM community. A quick Google search should be enough to help you find something.
Q) Do you do custom designs?
A) Yes! We are happy to help you with a custom design. Just contact us to begin the process.
Once a design and price are confirmed, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required before work will begin. Once completed, we will contact you for the balance prior to shipping.
Q) Can I use my collar during "play"?
A) We do not recommend using your collar or cuff for play (ie; grabbing and pulling, attaching leashes, rope, etc.).
Our jewelry is designed to be strong and stand up to constant, daily wear but please know that you are purchasing a piece of fine jewelry and that it should be treated as such.
Our mission is to design jewelry that is a beautiful symbol that can be worn anywhere in any setting be it public, at work, a family function or the dungeon.
Q) How do I clean/care for my jewelry?
A) As with all jewelry, do not expose it to harsh chemicals. Remove your jewelry before swimming (pool or ocean) or hot tubbing. Chlorine and harsh salt water do nasty things to all types of metal.
We do not recommend most commercial "jewelry cleaning solutions". Most
of these cleaners contain harsh and toxic chemicals. They work by
stripping the metal more deeply than is necessary and they create a
microscopically pitted surface that is now prone to tarnish more
frequently requiring more cleanings.
The cleaning methods we recommend are not toxic, safe to dispose of and much kinder to your jewelry.
If you wear your jewelry everyday, chances are your jewelry is dirty but not tarnished. Use a soft toothbrush and mild liquid soap without additives or fragrance (Blue Dawn dish soap works best). Make sure your piece is completely dry before storing it away.
If your silver is turning yellow (the first sign of tarnish), using a silver polishing cloth should remove the tarnish. Wash with mild soap and a toothbrush to remove any dulling polishing compound left from the cloth.
If your silver has turned brown or black, it is fully tarnished and will need a different type of soap and hot water. We recommend Arm & Hammer Washing Soda which can be found here.
If your copper jewelry is tarnished, you can use a polishing cloth then wash with liquid soap (we recommend blue Dawn dish soap without additives or fragrance) and dry immediately. If this does not remove the tarnish to your satisfaction you will need to make a vinegar and salt acid bath (this will not remove tarnish from silver but it will not damage the silver in your jewelry. You will need to use the above steps to remove tarnish from the silver.)
